A special BOH Birthday treat!

Brisbane City Council have just given us an early 10th birthday present – with the confirmation this week they are going to open the Spring Hill Service Reservoirs to visitors over the BOH weekend. A firm BOH favourite, we are thrilled to be able to include it in the program. Thank you BCC!

The Reservoirs will be open:
Sat 12 and Sun 13 October
9am to 5pm
NO BOOKINGS REQUIRED!

Step away from the heart of the CBD this BOH weekend and discover some of our city's prime heritage buildings and sites! Who says Brisbane doesn’t have a rich history?

Perhaps start your Sunday morning in the beautiful City Botanic Gardens with a visit to Building No 42 The Curator’s Cottage and continue to Building No 27 Old Government House, QUT. Go on a power trip at Buildings No 29 and No 1 – Parliament House and 1 William Street.  On Saturday you can get historical at Building 16 Commissariat Store, Building 21 Government Printery Office and Building 43 Treasury Hotel.

A passion for people and data?

We are looking for some special volunteers to work with the BOH Team over the BOH weekend! Each year we take as many visitor surveys as possible so we can improve next years event. We are looking for 12 volunteers (6 on Saturday 12 October and 6 on Sunday 13 October) to visit buildings throughout the BOH program with a trusty iPad to chat with people enjoying the weekend and to take some surveys. Do you like to know what makes people tick? We want to hear from you!

We are lookng for vollies for a 10am-2.30pm shift either or both days. If you are interested and can lend us a hand – drop us an email with the subject ‘Survey’ at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  Full training provided along with a VIP lanyward to jump building queues!

In an age of city shapers and placemakers, this event will explore the city beyond its mere fabric and look at Brisbane with a different lens to examine what exactly forms the heart of a place.

Discover how people, and their attachments to the past, build connections to places and create a vibrancy that transcends the built environment. Gain an insight into how we might protect, conserve and celebrate our rapidly changing city.

Sit back, relax and enjoy a range of concerts on Sunday 13 October in some of Brisbane’s most iconic buildings!

From the Amadeus Orchestra in the historic surrounds of Old Government House, to a selection of Handel in St John’s Cathedral, or the power of a big brass band and bagpipes at Fort Lytton Historic Military Precinct, you’ll find something to enjoy at one of these free concerts.

Try your hand at designing your own subtropical rooftop space while enjoying free coffee, entertainment and conversations at The Capital’s rooftop garden above the Regent Theatre. Brisbane City Council and EmAGN will host a day of placemaking workshops, presentations by urban design experts, music and light projections. Be inspired by this beautiful inner-city green space.
