The 2 hour Professional Development Day is complimentary and brings together financial professionals for practical learning, industry conversation and a preview of IFPA’s latest initiatives.
The Annual Awards Dinner follows that evening.
You may attend either event independently. You are welcome to join the Professional Development Day, the Annual Awards Dinner, or both; attendance at one does not oblige you to attend the other.
If you plan to join us, please register for the Professional Development Day and submit any award nominations by 16 September 2026. Each nomination requires the nominee’s name, practice and a short statement of why they merit recognition. Finalists will be notified by 21 September 2026.

ABOUT IFPA
IFPA was founded in 1919, more than 106 years ago as Taxpayers Australia, established to give ordinary Australians and the practitioners who advise them an independent voice on tax. We became Tax & Super Australia, and more recently the Institute of Financial Professionals Australia, as the accountant’s role broadened well beyond the return and the balance sheet. Today we represent some 4,000 accountants, and 20,000 supporters most of them in small and medium practices, and we remain an active participant in financial services, on Treasury and ATO consultative forums, in submissions on the professional standards and licensing regime, and through the continuing professional education that keeps practitioners qualified to advise.
THE DAY AND THE EVENING
The day opens as a professional development programme for participants from across the industry and closes with the Annual Awards Dinner. The room will bring together financial professionals from practices, licensees and industry organisations across Australia. For a sector that spends most of its year in its own silos, it is a rare chance to compare notes with your peers in one place, on one night.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: YOUR NOMINATIONS
The awards are the centrepiece of the dinner, and they only work when the people who know the talent put it forward. We invite you to nominate outstanding individuals, teams or practices in the award nominations.
Nominations close on 16th September 2026. You may submit nominations in any category using the attached nomination form. Each nomination needs no more than a page: the nominee’s name, their practice, and a short statement of why they deserve the recognition. Finalists will be notified by 21st September and the winners announced on the night.
WHAT WE WILL BE SHOWCASING
The professional development programme will also give you a first look at three things we have been building for the profession:
- Thomas Suite — Thomas is IFPA's AI-powered advisory assistant that instantly answers your tax and super questions from a call or email, delivering precise, ATO- and ASIC-compliant guidance alongside direct references to the exact legislation and latest tax updates behind every answer.
- Thomas Pulse — Thomas Pulse puts tomorrow’s advice technology in your hands today, streamlining SOAs, strengthening PII and compliance confidence, and giving financial advisers smarter tools to deliver exceptional client outcomes faster.
- The Knowledge Centre —The IFPA Advanced Knowledge Centre delivers the latest education, regulatory news and practice-specific insights, keeping members informed first, ahead of change, and ready to act with confidence.
- We will walk through each properly on the day, and the teams behind them will be available over dinner.
