Mr Fraser joins Australia TradeCoast from a long career in economic development and destination marketing, both promoting Brisbane as an investment location and most recently, from working with the Federal Government’s foreign investment agency, Austrade (formerly Invest Australia) in New York.

Mr Fraser was drawn to Australia TradeCoast because of his passion for promoting trade and investment to Australia and his strong local links.

He first became involved with Australia TradeCoast during his early career at the economic development agency for Brisbane, now Invest Brisbane, a division of Brisbane Marketing, where he was the director for six years.

It was during this time he helped build the concept of Australia TradeCoast and establish the brand and precinct in 1999.

Mr Fraser said his priorities as general manager are to elevate Australia TradeCoast as a business destination and support sustainable infrastructure development to ensure the region remains a competitive and attractive investment opportunity.

“As Australia’s largest and fastest growing trade and industry precinct, Australia TradeCoast is enjoying greater recognition in national and global markets, but we have more to do,” Mr Fraser said. “I’ve spent a good majority of the past 10 years travelling and working overseas to promote Australia as a business destination to international markets, and am now looking forward to working with our partners to strengthen and elevate our brand and achieve real and appropriate growth for the Australia TradeCoast region. ”Australia TradeCoast chairman, David Harrison said the general manager role had attracted significant interest, and the Board had appointed Mr Fraser because of his strong credentials. “We are very pleased to have a general manager with Brett’s experience, enthusiasm and in-depth knowledge of economic development and destination marketing, both in the local and wider context,” Mr Harrison said. “2009 will no doubt be a challenging year for many businesses. The role of Australia TradeCoast in promoting investment to the region and the broader South East Queensland economy has never been more important. ”Australia TradeCoast is the largest and fastest growing trade and industry region in Australia. It spans 8,000 hectares at the mouth of the Brisbane River and is home to the Port of Brisbane, Brisbane Airport and more than 7,500 businesses, primarily within the logistics and transport, aviation, advanced manufacturing and food and beverage processing sectors. The organisation is responsible for promoting the Australia TradeCoast region as a business destination, and working with partners to ensure a strategic and coordinated approach to infrastructure development and land use to achieve long term, sustainable growth.

Australia TradeCoast is a partnership with the Queensland Government, Brisbane City Council’s Invest Brisbane, Brisbane Airport Corporation and the Port of Brisbane Corporation.
