Surfing identity Robbie Page's Cream Surfing Company has signed a major distribution deal with Cape Byron Imports (CBI) to distribute his revolutionary surfboard wax that maintains its integrity in higher temperature ranges.
The deal will see CBI, one of the largest dive and watersport wholesalers in the Australia, take on the no-melt formula wax with strong growth projections of a 25 percent sales increase in the second year and 30 percent in the third.
Robbie Page: Cream Surf Wax in action. Mr Page said the deal was another milestone in his company's growth strategy to take a share of the international multi-billion dollar surf industry.
"The surfing industry now offers a multitude of products from beachwear to sunglasses to personal technology," Mr Page said. "However as trends come and go, there are two aspects that are always present and have been present since the dawn of surfing, the surfboard and surf wax.
"We've already launched our new Hydroflex technology surfboard to the market so the release of the Cream Surfboard Wax is a natural partner to the highly innovative Cream Surfboard range."
Mr Page said typical surf wax has a low melt point so cannot be left in the sun or in cars or exposed to prolonged periods of heat.
"Cream Surf Wax utilises a unique compound that provides a consistent application each and every time," Mr Page said.
"The formula ensures prime riding performance on all boards but has been developed especially with Hydroflex boards in mind. The wax maintains its integrity in the highest of temperatures meaning it keeps its grip in a variety of conditions and will not melt under typical summer sun, something that has never before been achieved."
Surfboard wax, along with other surf consumables, make up a large part of sales in the industry, and Cream will receive a minimum net profit of $1 per unit.
Mr Page, a Pipeline Masters winner (1988) and two-time World Masters champion, has produced a variety of innovative surfing products backed by his professional experience and vision including the revolutionary Hydroflex surfboard.
The technology behind Hydroflex was developed for the same use to construct state-of-the-art wind turbines in Europe. The technology was developed in Germany over a four-and-a-half year period to achieve a super-light material that does not delaminate or have memory loss.
Hydroflex is also environmentally friendly and can be melted down and used to produce a wide range of plastic components and does not give off toxic dust when shaped like traditional surfboard foam.
Cream utilises the Hydroflex technology for the surfboard blank, a non-toxic substitute to foam and is a revolutionary way of creating a new surfboard. Surfboards made from Hydroflex are also much stronger than traditional surfboards and can withstand over 600kg of weight.
Mr Page said Cream had identified manufacture and distribution channels for the technology in other boarding equipment such as skateboards, wakeboards, paddleboards, kite boards and windsurf boards.
Cream is seeking to penetrate the local markets through Cape Byron's extensive distribution channels and sell in a variety of stores such as independent retail outlets through to franchise sports, adventure and surfing chain stores.
