Queensland Treasurer Andrew Fraser will address business leaders on Queensland’s financial future following the release of the Henry Review and in the immediate lead up to the State Budget at a Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland (CCIQ) lunch on Friday 21 May.
Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland President David Goodwin said at present the nation’s taxes are considered by business to be a break on the economy.
“Business is looking to the government to use the 2010-11 State Budget to restore Queensland’s AAA credit rating and the overall health of the Queensland economy,” Mr Goodwin said.
“Business has suffered numerous recent blows with announcements of workers compensation premium increases and pending superannuation increases together with a resource super profits tax.
“Business does not have a bottomless pocket and it is important that business interests are given a high priority in the upcoming budget. “The Queensland business community needs Mr Fraser to deliver key initiatives to assist business and recommit to responsible economic management.”
Mr Fraser will discuss at the event the Federal Government’s proposed Resource Super Profits tax including its impact on the Queensland economy.
He will give insight into the State Government’s approach to the 2010-11 State Budget and discuss what the existing business climate means for State Government revenues going forward.
Media are invited to attend the luncheon. Please RSVP to Nikala on 3842 2251.
