ISO moves to help SMEs with eco-behaviour

A new ISO standard on phased implementation of environmental management systems will benefit SMEs, according to the Intenational Standards Organization (ISO).
ISO has just published a new standard in order to help organisations, and in particular small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) use a phased approach to implement an environmental management system (EMS).
ISO said business is increasingly taking into account environmental management requirements in their activities. However, even if they clearly see the benefits they can derive, implementing an EMS is not always an easy task, especially for SMEs.
"The job will now be made easier by ISO 14005:2010, Environmental management systems - Guidelines for the phased implementation of an environmental management system, including the use of environmental performance evaluation." the spokesman said.
