Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences is already making its mark on the iconic Gold Coast skyline, with construction past half way on the sold-out first tower, Boulevard Tower.
Workers have reached level 20 of the tower, which will eventually stretch 32 storeys into the sky and feature 186 residences, and have completed four of the five basement levels.
The concrete structure of Boulevard Tower will hit its full height in May, with the basement to be completed mid-year, ahead of total completion of the tower in late 2010.
At the same time, work is moving forward on the second and tallest tower, Orchid Tower, which is currently at level six and due for completion in late 2011. It will feature 57 levels and include luxury residential apartments and a Hilton Hotel.
Orchid Tower is more than 75 per cent sold and the remaining residences are selling fast, with more than $31million in sales recorded over the Christmas period alone and total sales in the landmark $700million development soaring to more than $380million.
Brookfield Multiplex Construction manager Peter Bell said there were more than 300 workers on-site each day constructing the dual Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences towers.
"Construction work has moved up a notch as the towers continue to take shape and will hit top gear about mid-year as the concrete structure of Boulevard Tower is completed," he said.
"At that point, we will reach our peak manpower, with up to 1000 workers involved directly and indirectly in completing the exterior of the tower and fitting-out the residences, while workers also keep construction of our second tower, Orchid Tower, stretching skywards."
Tim Willing, Brookfield Multiplex Director of Sales and Marketing, said while the world-class project was shaping the skyline, its influence went well beyond that.
"The project is creating hundreds of jobs directly and indirectly and this will continue well into the future with the opening of the Hilton Hotel, the first major new international hotel to be built in the city in more than a decade," he said.
"We are already witnessing the significant international appeal of the Hilton brand, which has been a key selling point of the project, particularly with our off-shore buyers who have come from right around the globe.
"This will be a truly world-class project."
Mr Willing said despite the property market remaining tough, Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences had continued to attract buyers, with sales in January at the highest level since the project was relaunched mid last year.
"These results would have to be among the best achieved for any apartment project in the country over the past 12 months," he said.
"The development offers the right formula for many potential buyers. It will provide the latest in luxury living, with residents able to utilise hotel services.
"With our first tower sold-out and our second now 75 per cent sold, buyers are realising the opportunities to secure their slice of Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences are becoming limited."
Residents of Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences will have the option to utilise on a user-pay basis exclusive hotel services such as concierge, valet parking, in room dining and maid services.
Facilities available at the hotel will include a luxury day spa, signature restaurant, executive lounge, gymnasium and swimming pool along with the exciting retail precinct being created at street level.
The Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences sales office, located at 3232 Surfers Paradise Boulevard, is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm.
