EB Games buys at TradeCoast Central PDF  | Print |  Email

Brisbane’s TradeCoast Central is set to become the national distribution centre for US-based EB Games following industry sources citing a $27million sale.

EB Games was introduced to TradeCoast Central by Jones Lang LaSalle’s Paul Young.

EB Games is Australia's leading retailer of new and preowned video games, consoles and accessories for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP, Wii and DS, the company is based in the US as Gamestop.

Young said EB Games’ search for a new national warehousing and distribution centre was some three years in the making.

“In 2008 EB Games entered the market with an extensive search for a new national distribution centre, having outgrown their then current headquarters at Pinkenba, also on Brisbane’s northside,” he said.

“Following an initial market investigation the company decided to stay put – given the GFC was kicking in globally. The search was re-ignited in late 2009, with EB Games deciding on TradeCoast Central. The deal was sourced and structured throughout 2010.

“After such a long time searching for a site, EB Games realised the logistical benefits of being at TradeCoast Central, given its access to the Gateway and surrounding arterial networks; combined with the long term value in acquiring a site which provides the ongoing benefits of a masterplanned commercial and industrial business park,” he said.

“TradeCoast Central was able to offer EB Games a turnkey design and construct development on a land and building basis located in a practical location with excellent access.”

Industry sources quote that the $27million deal secures Lot 16 in Schneider Avenue, a 3.282ha land block, with 15,000sqm of warehousing and 2,200sqm of attached office.

TradeCoast Central general manager Iain Tucker said the holistic nature of the solution provided was increasingly the deciding factor in larger sales at the precinct.

“Being able to provide turnkey solutions for clients is increasingly the pivot of the success of TradeCoast Central,” he said. “EB Games, a strong national brand retailer and international operator, joins Energex, Volgren and Reece in calling TradeCoast Central home.”

TradeCoast Central is renowned as Brisbane’s premier industrial and commercial estate with the bulk of Stage 1 and Stage 2 pre-committed.

The EB Games site provides excellent access to the surrounding arterial network including the Gateway Motorway and Duplication, the Port of Brisbane Motorway and the Inner City Bypass. TradeCoast central is approximately 8 kilometres to the east of the Brisbane CBD.

The estate provides medium and large scale operators the opportunity to acquire or lease purpose built facilities within the Australia TradeCoast precinct and benefit from the proximity to the Airport and Port of Brisbane. TradeCoast Central has a focus on high quality sustainable and efficient development.
