The Vodafone Business One service, developed and launched in Australia, won the prestigious Ovum Telecom
Innovation of the Year award at the Telecom Asia Awards 2009, staged in Hong Kong last month.
Vodafone
Australia Hugh Humphrey, comments:
"Vodafone
Australia general manager of Business Markets, Hugh Humphrey said it was "great recognition
for the pioneering work undertaken by the local Australian team in the past 18
months and underscores our belief that Vodafone Australia is genuinely at the
forefront of the global telecommunications industry, not only the local
Australian market".
"It is
particularly satisfying to be recognised for this award by one of the world's
leading analyst houses, Ovum, who independently nominates entries for the
annual awards," he said.
"The local
SME market covers around 1.2 million enterprises and employs nearly 4
million
people across the country, making it one of the most important segments of the
telecommunications industry and the backbone of the Australian workforce.
"Vodafone's
research told us that this segment was being under-serviced by the traditional
big players and so, as part of a three-way initiative with Cisco and Research
In Motion (RIM), we worked together to create a new, unparalleled service to
market in Vodafone Business One specifically to cater for these businesses (See
Busines Acumen issue 54).
"Vodafone
whole-heartedly believes that fully-managed, integrated telecommunications services,
employing the very latest technology in a simple and practical way, for one
single monthly fee is the future of SME telecommunications and the next logical
progression for businesses as they look to maximise their competitive advantage
in these tighter economic times."
