NEC views its new facility at Greater Springfield, Ipswich City, as so important that the company’s global chairman, Hajime Sasaki, flew out form Japan to officially declare it open last month.
NEC has taken the lead by opening a business centre in Springfield Tower and is now within months of completing its state-of-the-art data centre at the new adjacent Polaris building. The event, also attended by Minister Rob Schwarten and Ipswich City Council officials including Mayor Paul Pisasale, marked the official opening of the Springfield commercial district at Australia’s fasted growing master-planned city.
Businesses moving to the area can now take advantage of NEC’s purpose built infrastructure and hosted business and connectivity services – underpinning Springfield Land Corporation chairman Maha Sinnathamby’s plans to make the city Australia’s “most connected community”.
Ipswich City Mayor, Cr Pisasale took it a step further with a tongue-in-cheek offer to the NEC chairman to shift the company’s headquarters to Ipswich.
The new Springfield network provides anytime, anywhere exchange of information using state of the art NEC fully managed ICT technology and services, said NEC state manager Nigel Sellars. NEC has formed an alliance with Springfield Land Corporation (SLC) – Springfield’smaster developers – to provide the ICT infrastructure for the entire city. In addition, NEC has signed a $15million agreement to lease a significant proportion of the purpose built Polaris Data Centre to support the delivery of hosted ICT services to Springfield’s burgeoning business community. NEC is Springfield Land Corporation’s ICT partner of choice and will deliver organisations in the region with everything they need to run their business from fax machines to managed networks and managed software applications.
