An enterprising group of South East Queensland business people have ganged up to beat the recession and offer a local businesses an overhaul of their staffing, operations, brand, information technology (IT) systems and books.
Several specialists, tired of the talk of the economic downturn, decided over coffee to launch an innovative free advice website called The Business Advice Panel online, which offers real time responses to common challenges facing small business.
The site has gone gangbusters, they report, attracting questions from all over Queensland, and has led to its pairing with a local newspaper to offer a $10,000 Business Advice Makeover prize, provided by the panellists. They are describing the prize as a “kind of Back-End Blitz for business”.
David Tensen The site’s co-founder, David Tensen, is a new media specialist with 14 years of experience in IT, business and marketing, who felt it was time people had their own Wikipedia to go to for business problems – free of charge.
“The site has been overwhelmed by the interest since it was launched, both from big and small business, seeking help often anonymously and asking for ideas to boost their planning, accounting, customer service, legal rights, and more,” Mr Tensen said.
“Each of the panellists are experienced business owners and managers who give their own time to answer questions online or in person if they need greater counselling – and the website is entirely free.
“It’s fast, friendly and we’re genuinely seeking to help business cope with change. The $10,000 makeover will be a real windfall for some lucky business owner when it is drawn at the end of April.”
